My work life revolves around Outlook. It's amazing how powerful the 2007 edition is. I actually keep two outlook windows open. The first I use to look at my email, calendar and contacts. The second window is dedicated to tasks. With multi-colored flags as well as categories, once you have a system you can move through your list very efficiently.

Another thing I'd add. If you're in front of a computer most of the day, I'd recommend dual monitors. (Two 22 or 24 inch widescreen flat panels.) I have one monitor in front of me that has my main attention and then the second is slightly to the left. I can focus without being distracted on the first monitor but keep anything I need to reference on the left... such as my task list.
