It's sad to hear that journalist jobs are the first cut when a newspaper announces its attempt to counteract the affects of this dying medium. It seems to me that more newspapers are relying on the AP stories (in some cases not even re-hashing the story).

Only recently have some newspapers started to embrace the online medium. The ones that start promoting Kindle type devices will win in the end. These cool gadgets allow you to read books, listen to podcasts and in many cases receive the digital version of a newspaper delivered wirelessly to the device.

It's a win for both the consumer and the newspaper. The newspaper makes money from the digital subscriptions. The consumer gets the paper faster than through a local paper person and doesn't have to worry about a soggy paper on a rainy day. They don't even need to go outside to get it.
